She won re-election to the senate in November 2006. In early 2007, Hillary Clinton announced her plans to run for president. However, during the 2008 Democratic Primaries, Senator Hillary Clinton conceded her nomination when it became apparent that Barack Obama held a majority of the delegate vote. Barack Obama won the U.S. presidential election and nominated Hillary Clinton to become Secretary of State in his 2009 cabinet.
