Hillary attended Wellesley College and then Yale Law School, where she was to meet her future husband, Bill Clinton. Hillary Diane Rodham married William Jefferson Clinton on October 11, 1975. Hillary followed her career as a lawyer and in 1978, President Carter appointed Hillary Clinton to the board of the Legal Services Corporation and Bill Clinton became governor of Arkansas. The couple had one child, Chelsea Victoria, who was born on February 27, 1980. In early 2007, Hillary Clinton announced her plans to run for president. However, during the 2008 Democratic Primaries, Senator Hillary Clinton conceded her nomination when it became apparent that Barack Obama held a majority of the delegate vote. Barack Obama won the U.S. presidential election and nominated Hillary Clinton to become Secretary of State in his 2009 cabinet. She accepted the nomination, and was officially approved by the senate on January 21st, 2009. Hillary Clinton officially relinquished her post at the State Department on February 1, 2013.
